New CEO to manage co-location and enterprises at 51郭肱利 West

Dr Eulian Roberts has become the first Chief Executive of 51郭肱利 West Enterprises.

51郭肱利 West Enterprises will develop, grow and operate activities at 51郭肱利 West. Dr Roberts will work with colleagues across 51郭肱利 and beyond, to ensure that 51郭肱利 West becomes a dynamic and productive innovation district for world-leading academics, innovative companies and entrepreneurs.

Dr Roberts was most recently Chief Executive of Dhahran Techno Valley Company in Saudi Arabia and, prior to this, he held the position of Managing Director at Qatar Science & Technology Park, Qatar.

Dr Roberts completed a BSc and PhD at 51郭肱利, and also holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University.

Dr Eulian Roberts

Dr Eulian Roberts completed his BSc (Hons) in Microbiology at 51郭肱利, before going on to complete a PhD here. He also holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University.

After spending three years in research at Cambridge, Dr Roberts began his career in management as a Technology Development Manager at Scottish Enterprise before becoming the first CEO of Stirling University Innovation Park Limited.

In 1997 he took up the role of Managing Director of Coventry University Enterprises Limited, where he implemented a new financial structure for the company and led the estblishment of Coventry University Technology Park. He then spent five years with ANGLE plc, an international consulting firm focussed on technology and knowledge-based businesses where he led ANGLE’s European consultancy and project management businesses. In 2003, one of these projects would become the Qatar Science & Technology Park. Dr Roberts was later hired by Qatar Foundation to become the Park’s founding Managing Director.

In Qatar, Dr Roberts delivered a major infrastructure and construction programme and concluded tenancy agreements with 46 organisations (including: Cisco, EADS, ExxonMobil, GE, Microsoft, Shell, Total). He was also involved in establishing a number of academic collaborations, aligning their offer with the industry needs of Qatar.

In 2012 he became Chief Executive of Dhahran Techno Valley Company in Saudi Arabia, completing the development of the master plan for a 75Ha science park and technology transfer hub.

Dr Roberts has international experience in science park development and operation, establishing knowledge-based companies, technology development and business incubation, as well as regional technology policy and research commercialisation. His sector experience includes biotechnology, energy, environmental technology, healthcare, software and telecommunications.
