About the course
The Introduction to Generative AI for Staff course is available for all staff at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.
It is designed to equip staff with practical generative AI skills and the critical awareness needed to navigate this rapidly evolving field in a responsible way. 
Generative AI is transforming the way we work, teach and support students. This course provides a practical introduction to using GenAI responsibly in a higher education context. You will explore how GenAI works, where it can add value, and how to use it safely and effectively within 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. You will also consider its limitations, its role in supporting wellbeing, and how to make informed decisions when using GenAI yourself or supporting colleagues and students.
Underpinned by the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Values, the course promotes confident ethical and reflective use of GenAI, supporting an open and informed conversation across the university.
The course was a collaboration between , the Interdisciplinary EdTech Lab and also includes design elements from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's Digital Media Lab.
Who is the course for?
All 51³Ô¹ÏÍø staff (Education, Research, and Professional Services)
It is not mandatory but is recommended for professional development.
