The Centre for Bio-Inspired Technology (CBIT) welcomes highly motivated researchers to join our interdisciplinary research programmes. Our work focuses on bio-inspired sensors and actuators, ultra-low-power circuits and systems, lab-on-chip and point-of-care diagnostics, and implantable and wearable medical technologies, with strong emphasis on clinical translation and real-world impact. We work at the interface of electronics, biomedical engineering, biology, neuroscience, data science and healthcare.
Research staff opportunities (research assistant, research associate, research fellow) are advertised via 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s employment pages. Informal enquiries may be directed to the most relevant academic lead, with a short CV and summary of research interests.
PhD opportunities are available for candidates with excellent engineering or physical sciences backgrounds (typically a 1st-class MEng, or BEng + MSc with distinction). Research themes include ultra-low-power biomedical circuits and systems, wearable and implantable devices, lab-on-chip and point-of-care diagnostics, neurotechnology and bioelectronic medicine, and remote monitoring of human health and wellbeing using radar. Funding routes include UKRI, Centres for Doctoral Training, scholarships and project-specific studentships.
