Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy imaging

The preservation of archival documents and works on paper is challenging due to their heterogeneous composition and sensitivity to light. Analysis of such cultural heritage has a vital role in a responsible modern approach to conservation. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy imaging has been applied to objects and cross-sections to reveal the chemical composition and to understand the degradation processes.
