The Network of Excellence in Diabetes was established in 2018 and brings together researchers from across three 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Faculties with the goal of gaining a better understanding of the disease process and developing innovative new approaches to treatment.
Key elements are bioinspired engineering, pancreatic islet cell biology, and disease genetics. We aim to provide training in the technologies focussing on the interface between disciplines, linking basic research to clinical practice.
The Diabetes Network - whose researchers are supported by grants from MRC, Wellcome, ERC, Diabetes UK and others - has close ties to affiliates including the Network of Excellence in Nutrition, the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø NIHR BRC, Nan Yang Technical University in Singapore, and the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Centre for Diabetes in Abu Dhabi.
