Adjustments and support

Reasonable adjustments is a legal term derived from the UK Equality Act (2010), which includes things like additional exam arrangements, specialist study skills or mentoring support and obtaining specific equipment. These adjustments can be tailored to your individual needs.

Accommodation

The Disability Advisory Service can advise and support you if you have specific rooming requirements. If your circumstances are particularly exceptional, we may support an application to stay in halls of residence beyond your first year of study.

Specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) and autism

For students with autism or specific learning difficulties, we offer various types of support. If you think you have an SpLD or autism, we can also support you in identifying these.

What support can we provide for SpLDs and autism?

Departmental disability officers

Departmental disability officers (DDOs) are the first point of contact within a student's department. They will apply for additional exam arrangements on the student's behalf and will facilitate the student's support within the department.

Hidden disabilities sunflower

51³Ô¹ÏÍø has joined the Hidden Disabilities campaign. Students can wear a sunflower symbol to show they have a learning difficulty, health problem or disability which is not visible.
