This course, run by staff from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Consultants, is for any research staff and research students interested in applying their knowledge to problems in industry, commerce and government. The course will introduce you to the world of academic consultancy, from acting as an expert witness to providing specialist advice. It will also introduce you to the support 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Consultants, a College-owned company, can offer you when consulting.

Aims
- To develop your understanding in what consultancy is and how it can enhance your career.
- To provide information about the consultancy project life cycle including case studies
- To introduce ICON and how can we help
- To provide strategies on how to get started with consultancy
- To give you examples of how you can promote yourself and develop your skills
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Distinguish between consultancy and research projects
- Draft an initial value proposition tailored to a non-academic audience
- Outline the routes to self-promotion and strategies for building a consultancy opportunity
- Highlight the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø policies and practices governing consultancy that apply to them
- Know how to access the available 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Consultants support
