This session will be an introduction to GDPR and how 51³Ô¹ÏÍø has been implementing legislative changes since integration in 2018 with a particular focus on research activities. It will explain the legislation in brief, the relevance to Research Staff and Students, and what 51³Ô¹ÏÍø is doing to assist staff to ensure their compliance.

This course is open to Postdocs, Research Fellows & Research Degree Students.

Aims

  • To provide an introduction to data protection legislation
  • To develop understanding on GDPR and it’s implications on research
  • To clarify nomenclature around Data and Data protection
  • To provide guidance and support regarding implementing Data Protection principles, undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessments and Secure Processing Environments and understanding the interplay between the topic of research and expectations of data subjects.
