Biofluid dynamics

Biofluid dynamics research entails applying the mathematical theories of fluid mechanics, ubiquitous in the natural world, to provide a quantitative understanding of these biological processes from a mechanical point of view.

Geophysical fluid dynamics

Geophysical fluid dynamics combines together asymptotics, geometric reasoning, and numerical simulations to explain and predict the motion of the atmosphere and ocean with implications for our weather and climate.

Stokes, multiphase and thin film flows

Specialised analytical and numerical techniques are developed in order to address flow regimes at very small scales, in which we often encounter systems with more than one fluid and which incorporate challenging physical effects (rheology, surfactants, external field forcing).
