51³Ô¹ÏÍø issues guidance on the criteria for awarding bonus payments and the amounts that should be awarded for each grade.
51³Ô¹ÏÍø employs Clinical Academic staff who are employed on NHS National terms and conditions. Some Clinical Academics receive Excellence or Impact Awards, which are not under 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s control or funded by 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.
These are, in effect, bonus payments awarded by the Department of Health & Social Care to senior Clinical Academics based on their clinical and academic contribution. Although 51³Ô¹ÏÍø does not decide these bonuses, they affect the bonus pay gap at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø because a higher proportion of senior Clinical Academic staff are male. Therefore, Clinical Excellence Awards have been analysed separately.
