Overview

Many of our staff (Medicine and widening to other faculties, e.g. Bioengineering and the Business School) use clinical data.  
One area where risk was identified is the use of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø emails to transmit/receive patient information.
51³Ô¹ÏÍø staff receive identifiable patient information across 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s email system; consequently, they need some training and support to handle data safely and confidentially.
This e-learning course explores the concepts of confidentiality and data protection. Although this is a complex field, the course aims to provide you with the framework and tools to interpret the requirements for research with confidence.
The MRC Regulatory Support Centre developed this module in consultation with the National Research Ethics Service, the Ethics and Confidentiality Committee and others.
