Overview
In today's dynamic business environment, geopolitical instability and emerging risks pose a significant challenge for executives. 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Risk Management programme equips you with the knowledge, practical tools and training to navigate uncertainty, support governance, and make informed decisions. Delivered in a blended format with online pre-work to support in-class discussion and application, this course is expertly designed to help you future-proof your strategies by gaining a deep understanding of risk management principles, compliance expectations, and mitigation options, to effectively address geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
You will learn how to identify, measure and manage risks across both financial and non-financial risk categories, including climate and information risks. The course also covers security, safety, and compliance considerations that leaders face when managing enterprise and project risk. Through experiential learning, you will engage in a dynamic scenario and project-style exercise that challenges you to manage uncertainty and respond under pressure, strengthening your decision-making, leadership skills, and team learning. Additionally, a visit to our state-of-the-art Data Observatory will provide valuable insights into big data analytics and predictive risk management.
Throughout the programme, you will study both qualitative and quantitative approaches to risk management, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of different risk measures and scenario analysis. You will also examine the impact of behavioral biases on decision-making, and address emerging risks, such as cyber threats and climate change, offering practical insights into real-world challenges, operational resilience, and advanced risk management strategies.
Learning journey
Day 1. The Evolving Role of the Chief Risk Officer
Risk is no longer a technical discipline. It is a leadership capability that enables organisations to create value, navigate uncertainty and build resilience in a rapidly changing world.
Risk leadership has become one of the defining capabilities of successful organisations. As disruption accelerates and stakeholder expectations intensify, today's Chief Risk Officers and senior leaders must balance growth, resilience and long-term value creation.
The programme opens by exploring the evolving risk landscape and the leadership challenges facing modern organisations. You will examine how culture shapes decision-making, how governance influences performance, and why behavioural factors are often as important as analytical tools in determining risk outcomes. The day concludes by examining the capabilities that distinguish high-impact risk leaders and introducing the Learning Labs, where you will work on a live organisational challenge throughout the week.
