Welcome to the London e-Science Centre (LeSC)

Welcome to the London e-Science Centre (LeSC) based at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and associated with the .

The Centre undertakes novel research, applying it to the support scientific communities across 51³Ô¹ÏÍø College and beyond. We are involved in a range of e-Science projects covering a wide array of different fields from development of middleware to support e-Science and large-scale scientific processing challenges to application projects supporting end-user domain scientists.

Professor John Darlington leads the Centre with a team of four Co-directors. The Centre focuses on four key high-profile application areas:

  • Public Health and Primary Care
  • High Energy Physics
  • Bioinformatics
  • Transport

LeSC began as one of the eight Regional Centres in the EPSRC/DTI e-Science Core Technology Programme, which ran from 2002-2006. In 2005, the activities of LeSC expanded to include those of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø College Internet Centre.

Since the end of the e-Science Programme funding, LeSC has continued to serve as an active e-Science Centre by participating in a variety of UK and international projects.
