An officer checking for fake anti-malarial drugs

Exploring diagnostic technologies, the impact of evolution and different drugs, drug regimens and properties on measuring transmission dynamics. Focusing on parasite prevalence and disease burden, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and the ability to enhance the efficiency of control interventions.

Therapeutics

We have quantified the impact of rapid, effective treatment in preventing progression of malaria from uncomplicated disease to severe malaria in collaboration with a large number of research groups who contributed primary individual patient data to a meta-analysis.

Chemoprevention in children

Preventive malaria treatment is given to children in particular risk groups and countries. Seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) is an approach which aims to prevent malaria in young children in areas of higher transmission, and specifically highly seasonal areas.

Diagnostics and infectious resevoir

Our work focuses on combining prevalence and infectivity datasets from multiple transmission settings to characterise the "infectious reservoir" using insights from transmission dynamics models to understand the relative role of different individuals in sustaining transmission.
