At the MSK Lab we make learning fun, using modern digital tools and hands on practice to help surgeons learn safe and precise technique. Our approach gives trainees the opportunity to build confidence in realistic settings long before they treat patients. This supports better accuracy, safer operations, and improved outcomes.

Virtual reality training

Virtual reality recreates the operating room in an immersive way. Trainees can rehearse important steps and explore anatomy in three dimensions, gaining skill through repeated practice in a safe environment.

Augmented reality guidance

Augmented reality places helpful visual cues into the trainee’s view. It highlights key structures and alignment information, strengthening understanding while new techniques are being learned.

Hands on simulation

High quality physical models allow trainees to practise exposure, instrument use, and controlled movements under supervision. This builds familiarity and confidence before progressing to live surgery.

Hip resurfacing training

The MSK Lab is a leading centre for training in modern ceramic hip resurfacing. This bone preserving procedure requires careful technique. Our structured programme hopes to combine virtual practice with supervised simulation to ensure that surgeons learn the operation safely and consistently.
