Neurovascular and Autonomic Group at the 16th Congress of the EFNS

We (Christopher Mathias’s Group) recently attended the 16th Congress of the European Federation of Neurological Societies (), which provides a platform for specialists in neurology to study current research, clinical practices and treatments. The Congress was attended by more than 5000 neurologists from all over the world and the EFNS represents 16000 European neurologists.

Abstracts were presented by:

  • (MSA Trust Research Fellow and Clinical Research Lead)
  • (Sir Roger Bannister Clinical Research Fellow)
  • Dr Ekawat Vichaya­nrat (UKIERI Clinical Fellow)
  • Dr Ellen Merete Hagen (Visiting Clinical Fellow from Bergen University) 

Prof. Mathias was invited to present a Main Topic lecture entitled ‘Autonomic dysfunction in polyneuropathies: recognition, investigation and management’ in the Autonomic Disorders in Neurological Diseases session.

Dr Iodice won a Bursary to present her oral presentation (‘The Use of Octreotide in the Postural Tachycardia Syndrome’) in the Autonomic Disorders Short Communications session and Dr Hagen won the EFNS Investigator Award for Free Presentations (Autonomic Nervous System Disorders Panel), receiving €500 and a diploma for her 2 posters on ‘24 Hr Blood Pressure’ and ‘Heart Rate Ambulatory Monitoring Using the Autonomic Protocol in Autonomic Disorders’.
