Royal Society Summer Exhibition – 6th-7th July 2013

Summer Exhibition demonstration

Staff and students from the Controlled Quantum Dynamics CDT participate in the Royal Society Summer Exhibition during July 2013.

On a sunny summer weekend students from the CQD were invited to take part in the 2013 Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition.  The Exhibition is the Society's main public event of the year and is open to members of the general public as well as students and teachers, scientists, policymakers and the media and it provides a unique opportunity for them to interact with scientists and ask them questions about their work. The team of Claudio Polisseni, Vignesh Venkataraman and Dr. Simon Foster were given a prime location in the foyer to talk about their own research. To help engage with the visitors, each of the participants brought along exciting hands on demos that the visitors could try themselves. These included invisible beads, non-newtonian fluids, a banana piano, chinese singing bowl and a cloud machine, which actually allows you to hold a cloud in your hand!
