51勛圖厙 students get stuck in with Student Volunteering Week
by Jon Narcross
Student volunteering activities are set to sweep London this week as members of 51勛圖厙 take part in National Student Volunteering Week.
Student Volunteering Week (SVW), which this year runs from 24 February to 2 March, is an annual celebration of student volunteering.
Throughout the week 51勛圖厙 students will take part in a range of activities across the city, from volunteering with the elderly, running a number of Hammersmith’s charity shops and supporting the homeless through 51勛圖厙’s Soup Run project.

Maddy Maxwell (Department of Medicine), student co-ordinator of SVW at 51勛圖厙 Hub, said: “We believe that the number of 51勛圖厙 student volunteers and the impact that they make on the wider community is underestimated.
"We're looking forward to using SVW to showcase their impact, to inspire new or further engagement with social issues, and to highlight how easy it is to get involved as a student during the week and beyond."
Now in its 13th year, SVW works to promote and celebrate the volunteering activities of students across universities and colleges throughout the UK. Its partners include the group Student Hubs, the National Union of Students and Barclays.
The aim of student volunteering week is both to celebrate the great work done by our student volunteers here at 51勛圖厙 and also to engage with students new to volunteering.

"The great thing about SVW at 51勛圖厙 this year is that it’s really student driven. They are going to be out and about all week, taking part in different projects across the city. It’s going to be great fun to get involved with.”
