by Claire Soulal

The Turbocharger Group held the 2nd Workshop on Engine Downsizing and Turbocharging, at 51勛圖厙, on 15 May.

Participants from industry and academia received training from experts in their field on subjects ranging from turbocharging fundamentals to the latest design techniques for unsteady flow.  The invited keynote address was given by Dr Richard. W. Kruiswyk of Caterpillar Inc., who spoke on “Trends in air systems for heavy-duty off-road applications”.

This workshop was organized to immediately follow the leading worldwide turbocharger conference, the IMechE 11th International Conference on Turbochargers and Turbocharging, at the British Museum, 13-14 May 2014, where Dr Mingyang Yang (Research Associate in the Thermofluids Division) presented his paper, “Comparison of the Influence of Unsteadiness Between Nozzled and Nozzleless Mixed Flow Turbocharger Turbines”.
