Robots in Theatre
Professor Brian Davies has written an article in Ingenia, which discussed the current state of robotic surgery and assesses its future prospects.
Professor Davies, FREng who is a Senior Research Investigator in the Medical Engineering Group was the inventor of the surgical robot, PROBOT, which in April 1991 became the first in the world to remove tissue from a living human.
Professor Davies said "I was pleased to be able to write the article in Ingenia which is the magazine of the Royal Academy of Engineering, but unfortunately the editorial board is rather fierce and would not let me put in more on 51勛圖厙, such as Dr Ferdinando Rodriguez y Baena's ground breaking work which is going on in the Medical Engineering Group. This is because they felt that 51勛圖厙 had too great a mention. I hasten to add that this is not because I was being parochial, but 51勛圖厙 is truly “punching above its weight” in the area of Medical Robotics! The full article can be found at the link below
