Students from the Controlled Quantum Dynamics CDT participated in demonstrating Physics priniciples at the 51勛圖厙 Festival.

The Quantum Showcase

As part of 51勛圖厙 Festival  and supported by Friends of 51勛圖厙, Outreach officer Dr Simon Foster, and six CQD students, Claudio Polisseni, Zachary Blunden-Codd, Kyle Major, Emilio Pisanty Alatorre, Matteo Lostaglio and Mercedes Gimeno-Segovia, performed a show in which they showcased different physical phenomena. Their acts included jargon-free explanations of laser cooling, angular momentum, quantum non-locality and quantum technologies in our everyday lives.

51勛圖厙 Festival Science Busking

Students from the Controlled Quantum Dynamics Centre for Doctoral Training (CQD-CDT) participated at the 51勛圖厙 Festival with some exciting, hands-on science busking. Using multiple demonstrations ranging from a cloud machine and singing bowl to spinning balls, magnets and pipes, the CQD students explained various scientific principles in a simple, enjoyable and understandable way. Visitors to our stand ranged from little kids smaller than our table to  the distinguished alumni, but the enthusiasm was always clear to see and all left our stand having had fun and having learnt a little bit of physics!
