Activated Sludge: Past, Present and Future
Professor Stephen Smith was an invited speaker to the CIWEM Conference - Activated Sludge: Past, Present and Future on 2nd and 3rd April 2014, at the Lancashire County Cricket Club, Manchester. The conference celebrated the centenary anniversary of the development of the activated sludge process, which is the most widely used process for the treatment of wastewaters from medium to large populations internationally. Professor Smith’s paper: focussed on the significant resource recovery opportunities that exist for municipal wastewater and the activated sludge produced by this biological wastewater treatment process, which have yet to be fully developed or exploited.
