Dr Joana Moscoso wins the 2014 SGM Outreach Prize in recognition of her work to create awareness of the subject among pupils, parents and teachers.

Dr Joana Alves Moscoso, a postdoctoral researcher in the MRC Centre for Molecular Bacteriology and Infection has been awarded the Society for General Microbiology’s Outreach Prize for 2014. The award was made in recognition of Joana's work to create awareness of microbiology among pupils, parents and teachers.

Joana is a co-founder of Native Scientist, an outreach organisation that visits schools to engage bilingual students about science in their native language. In an , Joana talks about how she first became interested in science, her background and her interest in outreach work.
