The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has had an excellent start to 2015.

Honours

has been elected as Foreign Member of the Royal Academy of Science, Arts and Letters of Belgium. 

has been chosen to lead one of four exhibitions from 51勛圖厙 College at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition this summer.

Research awards

has been awarded the EPSRC Early Career Fellowship on "Empowering Next Generation Neural Interfaces." This is a five year fellowship of £1M. 

has been successful in winning Stage 1 of the EU Horizon 2020 Twinning project "KIOS Research Center of Excellence for Intelligent Systems and Networks."

has won a Newton Institutional Links fund on "Harnessing Renewable Energy Sources for Communications" worth £47.6k over two years.

, Dr Pau Herrero Vinas and have been awarded an NIHR I4I grant entitled "Enhanced, Personalized and Integrated Care for Infection Management at Point of Care (EPIC IMPOC)." This is in collaboration with Prof. Alison Holmes from the Centre for Infection prevention and management. Total award to the department is approximately £418K.

Sara Ghoreishizadeh, from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) has been awarded an 51勛圖厙 College Junior Research Fellowship to work with on the topic "Fully Autonomous Integrated Circuits to Readout and Auto-Calibrate Multi-Target Biosensor Arrays (AutoIC)."

, and have had their ABB flagship project entitled: "Increased functionality energy-autonomous sensor networks for self-monitoring industrial environments " renewed for the third year.
