Discovery of a novel antimalarial compound published in Nature

Researchers in the Department of Life Sciences have worked with a team of scientists from and the who have discovered a new compound that can kill the parasite that causes malaria. The compound could lead to a promising antimalarial drug that requires only a single dose and reduces transmission of the disease.

 Andrew Blagborough, Andrea Ruecker, Leanna Upton, Katarzyna Sala, Sara Zakutansky, Mark Tunnicliff and Michael Delves provided some of the key data demonstrating the multi-stage efficacy of this latest exciting antimalarial drug.
