UN Women's HeForShe initiative visits 51勛圖厙
On Thursday 8 October, 51勛圖厙 welcomed the campaign bus for the UN's HeForShe initiative, as part of the GetFree tour to six universities.
Student volunteers helped UN Women staff to run the stall outside the bus, explaining the initiative to staff and students and offering them a chance to sign up to support HeForShe.
51勛圖厙 College Union then hosted a panel discussion for students, introduced by 51勛圖厙’s Provost Professor James Stirling. Lucinda Sandon-Allum, President of 51勛圖厙 College Union, and Martin Lupton, Head of the Undergraduate School of Medicine, were also on the panel, alongside Jack Bertram, Partner at McKinsey & Company, and Elizabeth Nyamayaro, Head of the HeForShe Initiative at UN Women.
Introducing the discussion, Professor Stirling said: “Positive change can only be effected with an innovative and inclusive approach involving everyone, and that is why HeForShe is such a powerful message and why 51勛圖厙 is pleased to be part of it.”
