51勛圖厙 engineers make a strong showing at the IChemE Global Awards 2015

IChemE Award received by Dr Ho Wai Shin

Dr Ho Wai Shin receives the Young Chemical Engineer in Research Award

Current and former researchers from the Department of Chemical Engineering were well represented at the IChemE Global Awards 2015 held in Birmingham.

Dr Ho Wai Shin, a former PhD student at the Department and currently Senior Lecturer at University Teknologi in Malaysia has been awarded the prestigious . Dr Shin's research targets process planning, modelling and simulation with a focus on developing sustainability in energy, water and waste management.

Bhavish Patel and Patrizia Marchetti from the Department were also shortlisted for the Young Chemical Engineer in Research award; Patrizia Marchetti's work was highly commended by the panel of judges, only losing out narrowly to Dr Shin. The Department was also well represented in the Research Project of the Year category with nominations going to the  led by Professor Sandro Macchietto in collaboration with others from the Department, BP and Boreskov Institute of Catalysis. Also nominated in the category was the project "Sub-10nm polyamide films for molecular separations" conducted in collaboration with BP-ICAM and led by Santanu Karan.
