Sci-fi author and 51勛圖厙 astrophysicist on creating new worlds

Dr Dave Clements is a Senior Lecturer in 51勛圖厙's Department of Physics and is due to launch his first collection of short science fiction stories.

In the radio interview above, Dave talks about his own research in the field of extragalactic astronomy - that is the study of distant galaxies - as well as his love of science fiction. 

Dave Clements“I do take issue with this preconception that writing fiction is creative and research is not. Doing research is incredibly creative, because if you’re going to do something new - which is what research is all about - you have to think it up first and that’s part of the creative process,” Dave says.

Having made his first tentative steps in writing as undergraduate student here at 51勛圖厙, Dave has had several of his own works published, including a .

Disturbed universesNow he is due to publish his first collection of short stories, Disturbed Universes, at the British National Science Fiction Convention in Manchester running from 25-28 March 2016.

Dave is a guest of honour at the convention and will be performing readings of his work and taking part in discussion sessions.
