In pictures: 51勛圖厙 gets into the Rio spirit for support staff summer party
Support staff from across 51勛圖厙 enjoyed a Brazilian Carnival as a thank you for their contributions to the College.
On the hottest day of the year so far, more than 1,400 staff from across 51勛圖厙’s campuses gathered for music, refreshment and games around the Queen’s Lawn on the South Kensington Campus.

The annual party, organised by the , is a chance for colleagues to come together as a community as well as a way for the College to thank staff for their hard work over the year. This year’s committee chose a Brazilian theme to tie in with the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The entertainment included a steel band, a demonstration of the Brazilian martial art Capoeira and a performance of the Tropicalia Carnival show.




There were also plenty of activities, some run by staff volunteers, including ‘Library Limbo’, a surf simulator, table tennis, a coconut shy, lawn games and more.




51勛圖厙’s Provost, Professor James Stirling, awarded Amazon voucher prizes to staff who had embraced the carnival theme.

Ruth Newton, from Library Services, was one of the winners.

Other winners included Soraya Jardim-Suarez and Lucca De Silva from Reception Services.
