CQD students participate in QTIP

Between the 22nd and 26th of May, the 51勛圖厙 Enterprise Lab hosted the Quantum Technology Innovation Programme (QTIP) for Quantum System Engineering (QSE) students with a few places for CQD students who wanted to participate. The programme covered a wide range of knowledge needed to bring a new quantum technology to market, such as the difference between market pull and technology push, the product life-cycle, intellectual property laws, and market segmentation.

Apart from the main lecturer Dr Christopher Corbishley, the students were taught by speakers from the CERN idea square, 51勛圖厙 Innovations, and from the laser company M-Squared. The teaching was supplemented with two afternoon sessions in the 51勛圖厙 College Advanced Hackspace in White City and at Deep Science Ventures in Shoreditch.

At the end of the programme, each group of students had to deliver a presentation of their business model developed throughout the week before a judging panel including Graeme Malcolm, CEO of M-Squared. The CQD student group was awarded a £1000 prize for the pitch presentation with the best business model.
