CQD students participate in QTIP

Between the 22nd and 26th of May, the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Enterprise Lab hosted the Quantum Technology Innovation Programme (QTIP) for Quantum System Engineering (QSE) students with a few places for CQD students who wanted to participate. The programme covered a wide range of knowledge needed to bring a new quantum technology to market, such as the difference between market pull and technology push, the product life-cycle, intellectual property laws, and market segmentation.

Apart from the main lecturer Dr Christopher Corbishley, the students were taught by speakers from the CERN idea square, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Innovations, and from the laser company M-Squared. The teaching was supplemented with two afternoon sessions in the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø College Advanced Hackspace in White City and at Deep Science Ventures in Shoreditch.

At the end of the programme, each group of students had to deliver a presentation of their business model developed throughout the week before a judging panel including Graeme Malcolm, CEO of M-Squared. The CQD student group was awarded a £1000 prize for the pitch presentation with the best business model.
