The Robotics Forum  summer school on Robotics-Biology Symbiosis was held from 19-21st September 2017 at 51勛圖厙 College.

AllParticipants

51勛圖厙 College has a unique concentration of research at the interface of robotics and biology, thus half of the speakers were from 51勛圖厙, complemented by top speakers from UK and overseas. During key sessions, Barbara Webb from Edinburgh University described how ant roads are formed; Jean-Paul Laumond from CNRS, France, explained how head stabilisation facilitates walking control in humans, and how this can be applied to biped robots, and  Art Kuo of Calgary University also explained how they are using robotics to understand the control of walking in humans.

RobotTestLab

Testing a robotics system

All participants and speakers thoroughly enjoyed the lectures and workshops, the intensive discussions at lunch, and a visit of the laboratories of various robotics research groups at 51勛圖厙. With a lot of interesting discussion generated regarding the development and future of robotics-biology symbiosis, it will be exciting to see what lies ahead in this field!

More details about the programme can be found on the 51勛圖厙 College website.
