How dining and surgery can improve care and illuminate each other’s practices

A series of immersive events in June 2018 will explore parallels between the worlds of fine dining and surgery.
The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø College Centre for Engagement and Simulation Science (ICCESS) and the University of Greenwich invite you to an immersive event exploring the expressions of care in two different yet complementary settings, fine dining and day surgery, unpacking the experiences of patients, diners, front of house staff, and healthcare professionals.
Improving patient experience presents a key aim for the NHS. The ‘Let Me Take Care of You’ events, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, will encourage you to consider what excellence means in the experience of care.
Find out for yourself what the similarities and differences are and join the discussion about learning between the professions to improve the patient and customer experience. The event draws on observational research undertaken in surgical wards and waiting areas of NHS hospitals, and in restaurants known for their unique emphasis on diners’ experience, including Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck restaurant.
The events are being organised in collaboration with the School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts at Westminster Kingsway College, CW+ (CWPLUS Registered Charity N°1169897), The Royal College of Nursing, The Infirmary Museum (the University of Worcester), and Glasgow Science Centre. Dates are below.
