The Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has confirmed that Chemical Engineering has been shortlisted for their annual Diversity and Inclusion Award, sponsored by BP.

The award recognises the organisation or group that best demonstrates a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within its workforce, sector or business practises.

Head of Department Professor Nilay Shah said: "We're incredibly pleased to be shortlisted as finalists for this award. We are committed to supporting gender equality and inclusivity in the department and have introduced several initiatives to support this; including a scholarship fund for attracting talented postgraduate students regardless of their financial status, and various outreach activities to publicise positive role models."

The award winner will be announced on Thursday 1 November.

Earlier this year the department received its third Athena SWAN Silver Award in recognition of its good practice towards the advancement of gender equality. Find out more about the award on our .
