Corruption, Integrity and the Law – Lorenzo Pasculli

by Ms Cleo Bowen, Lorenzo Pasculli

Dr Lorenzo Pascuilli

The second collection of research essays co-edited by CLCC lecturer Lorenzo Pasculli has been published by Routledge.

About the Book

A continuation of the research project initiated by CLCC lecturer Dr Lorenzo Pasculli and Prof Nicholas Ryder (UWE Bristol),  follows on from Corruption in the Global Era, published last year.

While the first book focused on corruption as a global phenomenon, Corruption, Integrity and the Law explores international and local responses to corruption in an attempt to identify a global anti-corruption framework. Once again, the approach is interdisciplinary and comparative. The book brings together authors from different countries and backgrounds to examine the many facets of anti-corruption, including criminal justice, whistle-blowing protection, EU ethical integration and moral learning.  Dr Pasculli teaches some of the book's findings in his third-year 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Horizons module Conflict, Crime and Justice.

Findings

the study of global corruption reveals how antiquated and dysfunctional the traditional paradigms of law and power can be in dealing with global issues, even beyond corruption. Lorenzo Pasculli & Nicholas Ryder Chapter 1 'The global anti-corruption framework’

As a result of their collective investigation, Dr Pasculli and Prof Ryder conclude that "the study of global corruption reveals how antiquated and dysfunctional the traditional paradigms of law and power can be in dealing with global issues, even beyond corruption. Fresh new approaches, based on scientific evidence and research, are necessary to reshape old legal categories and frameworks into the tools of the slow, quiet but inexorable globalisation of criminal law and justice. Researchers from all over the world can play a major role in this. And they should".

The book is the fruit of the collaboration of the  of the at Coventry University, and the  directed by Dr Pasculli, and Prof Ryder, respectively.
