In recent weeks, a series of eye-catching new hoardings have been installed at White City Campus while construction work continues.

Taking advantage of the opportunity presented by the hoardings to promote the campus, the College’s Design and Editorial team have used them to highlight the personality and diversity of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s community at White City.

Lead designer on the project, Abby Bolt said: “We wanted to bring some life to the blank construction hoardings and to give visitors and passers-by an insight into the campus the College is creating."

"We wanted to focus on our community, so we’ve featured a range of people in striking photographs taken by the College’s photographer, Thomas Angus with words by Brigid Marriott. The people featured represent a variety of themes core to our new campus – from world-class academics and their research, to innovative entrepreneurship, public and community engagement programmes, teaching, residential activity, and our close links with neighbouring Hammersmith Hospital Campus. The imagery provides a glimpse into some of our fantastic new buildings too.”

Creative place-making

The creative approach of displaying image-led hoardings also supports the College’s placemaking plans for White City, and the on-going commitment to make a positive impact on the area. In addition to the hoardings, new lamp post banners and building signage has also been installed at the north and south sites of the Campus.

What is displayed on the hoardings aims to inspire curiosity and engagement with the College – whether that’s to study at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, find out more about the exciting research taking place, co-locate to create collaborative partnerships, or attend a community-focused event.

“Our central Communications Design team have done a fantastic job and made an eye-catching addition to the Wood Lane streetscape,” said Nicholas Roalfe, Director of Estates Operations. “Not only do the hoardings bring life to the campus, they allow passers-by to learn more about 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s work around research, enterprise and innovation, and also help strengthen the sense of community on the campus.”
