Understanding oceans
A new $9.5m project aims to investigate how the ocean is warming, absorbing carbon, losing oxygen and becoming more acidic as a result of climate change. , from the Department of Physics at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø is Co-Investigator on the international project, which is led by researchers from and , USA.
The project is funded by the nonprofit Schmidt Sciences for the next five years, joining the (OBVI). The team will use new approaches that make use of machine learning, high resolution modelling and a wide range of data from the ocean and the atmosphere. The large scale of the project also means that links can be made between different activities that have not been joined up before, creating a more comprehensive picture of global ocean change than previously possible.
Dr Graven will contribute to data synthesis and modelling to determine past and future changes to the ocean environment.

Energy Futures Lab Lecture
The Energy Futures Lab is proud to announce its next Annual Lecture, which will take place on 13 June 2024.
It features Michael Liebreich, co-managing partner of EcoPragma Capital and CEO of Liebreich Associates. Mr Liebreich will delve into global energy transition trends and the role of hydrogen.

To answer this, the Energy Futures Lab is launching its latest white paper called "The Future of Nuclear Power in the UK: Challenges and Opportunities" on 25 June 2024.
