If you missed alumnus Sumit Paul-Choudhury's Research Seminar earlier this year you can now watch the event recording online.

The Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication was delighted to host alumnus Sumit Paul-Choudhury for a Research Seminar this January. Sumit was interviewed by Humanities and Social Sciences Field Leader, Dr Michael Weatherburn and had the opportunity to discuss his newly-published book

What should we expect from the world – benevolence, cruelty or indifference? Often dismissed as a lazy or naïve attitude to life, Sumit argued that optimism both raises and answers fundamental questions about how we perceive the cosmos and our place in it. 

The event included a Q&A and book signing. The author offered tips on learning to take a brighter view of our world and the future ahead, explaining how he drew upon a wide range of subjects and experiences to write his first book. 

Whilst an 51³Ô¹ÏÍø BSc Physics student, Sumit took 's History of Science class at CLCC (formerly the Humanities Department). After graduating with first-class honours, Sumit worked in journalism as well as completing a Master's in Mathematics. His career has spanned a range of science and journalism fields including working as Editor-in-Chief for the New Scientist.
