There are countless benefits to living abroad: expanding your horizons, practicing important life skills and developing your intercultural awareness, to name a few. We are therefore excited to announce that applications for the JSPS Summer Programme Fellowship are now open!

The JSPS Summer Programme Fellowship offers the opportunity for pre/postdoctoral candidates to spend two months pursuing research under the guidance of host academics at Japanese universities and research institutes.

If you’re worried about adapting to a completely new culture, please be reassured that all participants will receive an orientation on Japanese language, culture and research systems before the programme begins. The orientation will take place at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOENDAI).

Applicants should be British nationals and, at the time the Summer Programme goes into effect, either be enrolled in a PhD or MPhil course at a UK university or have obtained their PhD within the last 6 years (on or after 2 April 2020).

For the full details, including how to apply, head to the webpage. Applications must be sent in before 9.00 (BST) on Wednesday 22 October.
