I met my now-wife, Rosamund Galton (Biology 1992, MSc Environmental Technology 1993) at a west London chaplaincy barbecue at the end of my first year PhD in theoretical physics.

I met my now-wife, Rosamund Galton (Biology 1992, MSc Environmental Technology 1993) at a west London chaplaincy barbecue at the end of my first year PhD in theoretical physics (having already been at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø as an undergraduate for four years). She was on her industrial placement year at ICI, and had only returned to sit some exams. I tried to impress her with humour and juggling prowess (unsuccessfully).

We became engaged at the start of her final year. I left her for three months to go to Santa Barbara whilst she sat her finals, but we married as soon as she finished her MSc. We have now been married 15 years, and we have two children.

Between us we have 12 years at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, this must be close to a record!
