We can now confirm the winners of the Acland Prizes and Presidents Prize 2025-26

The Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication is pleased to announce that the following students have been awarded prizes for their undergraduate work over the past academic year, 2025-2026. We congratulate the prize-winners for their outstanding contribution to CLCC undergraduate programmes.

The Sir Arthur Acland Prize for Excellence in Humanities

• Stephanie (Yirui) Yang, 5^th Year Physics, for their work on Simulated Moral Reasoning and the Limits of Artificial Judgment, for the Advanced Humanities Project.

Runners up: Rin Heo, 2nd Year Biochemistry, for their Humanities Project on News and COVID-19; Olly Cassidy, 3rd Year Electronic and Information Engineering, for their Change Makers Independent Project on AI.

The Sir Arthur Acland Prize for Excellence in Languages (joint winners):

• Jon Hiew, 3rd Year Chemistry, for  Korean Level 3. 
  In recognition of his commitment and engagement over three years, his positive impact on the wider group and fostering meaningful connections across disciplines.
• Rachel Hopkins, 3rd Year Medicine, for British Sigh Language Level 2. For her leadership in promoting inclusivity, supporting BSL initiatives, and collaborating across institutions to create a positive impact within and beyond the profession.

•  Doyeon Myeong , 2nd Year Earth and Planetary Science with a Year Abroad. As the top-performing student on the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Horizons Science CommunicationScience Communication module.

Centenary of the Acland Prizes

The Sir Arthur Acland Prizes for Excellence are awarded to undergraduate students of any department for excellence in Languages and Humanities subject areas. These awards were first granted at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø in 1925, named for Sir Arthur Acland, educational reformer and member of the university’s Governing Council.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø has been celebrating the centenary of the Acland Prizes throughtout 2025-2026. To find out more, visit the Acland 100 website.
