Dr Giulia Tarantino, a researcher at 51�Թ��, has been recognised as highly commended in the Engineering category of the L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science UK & Ireland Young Talent Awards.

The prestigious awards celebrate outstanding early-career women scientists whose research excellence and leadership potential are shaping the future of science and engineering. Dr Tarantino’s recognition places her among an exceptional cohort of researchers selected from across the UK and Ireland.

The awards reception took place at the Speaker’s House in the House of Commons, bringing together leading scientists, policymakers and advocates for equality in science. The event was opened by Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, and included an acceptance speech from Dr Tarantino.

The programme is dedicated to empowering women globally, and aims to promote and support women’s participation in science by recognising emerging talent and providing visibility, mentoring and career-development opportunities.

Dr Giulia Tarantino's research focuses on how to design and improve materials that speed up chemical reactions, helping turn simple substances into more useful products in cleaner and more efficient ways.
