The joint ABEL–De Moivre Workshop, held at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø on 25–26 March 2026, brought together researchers from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and CNRS for two days of scientific exchange and collaboration across the mathematical sciences.

The joint ABEL–De Moivre Workshop, held at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø on 25–26 March 2026, brought together researchers from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and CNRS for two days of scientific exchange and collaboration across the mathematical sciences.

The programme featured a series of talks spanning applied mathematics, statistical physics, fluid dynamics, and machine learning, alongside discussions on funding opportunities and strategic directions for the two International Research Laboratories (IRLs). The event provided a valuable platform to strengthen existing collaborations and highlight funding mechanisms that can be leveraged to foster new partnerships.

The workshop also welcomed several distinguished guests from CNRS, including Arnaud Guillin, Deputy Scientific Director at Insmi, Executive Director of iMPT, and Director of PEPR Maths-Vives; Céline Montibeller, Head of International Programs at Insmi; Frédéric Hérau, Deputy Scientific Director at Insmi in charge of international and European affairs; and Nour Baïz, Program Manager at PEPR Maths-Vives. Their participation further enriched discussions and reinforced the strategic importance of the collaboration.

By bringing together complementary expertise across disciplines, the ABEL and De Moivre IRLs create an international environment in which new ideas can emerge and long-term collaborations can thrive. Such interactions are essential for tackling the complex scientific challenges of our time.

The workshop also offered an opportunity to reflect on the broader role of international partnerships in addressing global scientific challenges. Five joint 51³Ô¹ÏÍø–CNRS projects were presented, illustrating how the mathematical sciences contribute to diverse fields including health, biology, climate change, ocean dynamics, and surfactant science.
