EU Project Toulouse Group Photos


On the 5th January Professor Nigel Graham and Dr Geoff Fowler attended an EU Project meeting in Toulouse, France (see photograph). The 3 year project over the period 2006-09 is entitled, 'Reduction, Modification and Valorisation of Sludge - REMOVALS', and concerns new approaches to the management and disposal of sewage sludges. This is a Specific Targeted Research or Innovation Project under the EU 6th Framework Programme and involves 11 universities and research institutes, and 7 industrial partners, from 8 countries.

 


 


Dr Karl Smith 
Welcome to Karl Smith a new Research Assistant working with Profressor Nigel Graham.  Prior to arriving 51勛圖厙, Karl was at the University of Nottingham, where he completed a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering and a PhD in the capture of CO2 from flue gas using adsorbents developed from pulverized fuel ash (PFA).





Welcome to Professor Gamal Abdo, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Khartoum University. Professor Abdo is visiting the Department to discuss academic collaboration and issues related to the late Professor Shawki Saad's Fellowship (formerly a Professor of Civil Engineering at Khartoum University).  As a result of his generous bequest to 51勛圖厙, a fellowship was made available for a student from Khartoum University to study for a PhD in Civil Engineering at 51勛圖厙 College.  Professor Abdo also met with Professor Wheater and other Hydrology & Environmental Engineering staff to discuss possible academic collaboration and joint research project between 51勛圖厙 and Khartoum.
