In the latest assessment of research quality at UK institutions (REF 2014) 51³Ô¹ÏÍø College Lonon was rated third in the UK overall in Clinical Medicine, and top in Respiratory Medicine. The NHLI has a proud history of undertaking cutting edge research covering fundamental basic science through to clinical trials and implementation; it has the privilege to partner with several major hospitals in West London including the Royal Brompton and Harefield, Hammersmith and St Mary’s Hospitals, all with exceptionally strong clinical cardiac and respiratory medicine programmes. Current and past staff working in the NHLI include Professor Dame Margaret Turner-Warwick, Professor Peter Barnes FRS, Professor James Scott FRS, Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub FRS, OM and Professor Sir Malcolm Green.
