Our 51�Թ�� Centres and Networks of Excellence

The 51�Թ�� Centres of Excellence aim to galvanise a critical mass of researchers, transcending Faculty boundaries to support a multidisciplinary theme. The 51�Թ�� Networks of Excellence aim to establish and grow connections around an important multidisciplinary area that is being explored at an earlier stage than the centres. Centre for Advanced Therapeutics

The Centre aims to increase the cohesion and critical mass of teams within 51�Թ�� to catalyse translation of promising new Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Product treatments.

Centre for Cardiac Engineering

With established and rapidly evolving collaborations of clinical impact between Cardiovascular Science and various fields in Engineering at 51�Թ��, we are now consolidating as a world-class 51�Թ�� Centre for Cardiac Engineering in 2018.

Microbiome@51�Թ�� Network

The Microbiome@51�Թ�� Network brings together researchers from across 51�Թ�� to foster an integrated forum for coordination of internal resources and strategic research efforts, to facilitate access to enabling technologies and to educate the next generation of microbiome scientists and the public.

Stem Cell Regenerative Medicine Network

The 51�Թ�� Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Network (ISRMN) was launched in 2014 to bring together scientists working in these fields and encourage new, exciting interdisciplinary collaborations.

Vascular Science Network

The 51�Թ�� Network of Excellence in Vascular Science launched to link researchers, as well as foster pipelines of research from basic to clinical and translational, to further our understanding and developments within vascular science.

Vasculitis Centre

The Centre will consolidate and strengthen cross-faculty research collaborations within 51�Թ�� whilst working with external partners to answer important scientific questions.

Asmarley Centre for Genomic Medicine

The Centre's scientists are recognised internationally for their extensive expertise in human molecular genetics and genomics, including large-scale studies of asthma, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, lung and pleural cancer, and sequence-based studies of the lung microbiome.

BHF Centre of Research Excellence

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) Centre of Research Excellence at 51�Թ�� aims to promote innovative, world-leading cardiovascular research and training ate the interface of science, technology and medicine.

Electrocardiomaths Programme

The ElectroCardioMaths programme is an interdisciplinary initiative bringing together research leaders from clinical electrophysiology, biological sciences and physical sciences to address key challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac rhythm disturbances.

Margaret Turner Warwick Centre for Fibrosing Lung Disease

The goal of the MTW Centre, the UK's only centre for fibrosing lung diseases, is to increase fundamental knowledge of fibrosis biology to develop, evaluate and implement novel, safe, and effective treatments that will ultimately lead to a cure for pulmonary fibrosis.

National Centre for Mesothelioma Research

The National Centre for Mesothelioma Research of NHLI, 51�Թ�� aims to lead discovery research aimed at the underlying mechanisms of mesothelioma lung cancer, identifying new targets for therapy and new diagnostics for patient stratification.

NIHR HPRU in Respiratory Infections

The National Institute for Health Research Health Protection Research Unit in Respiratory Infections is funded through the Department of Health to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. The NIHR HPRU in respiratory Infections supports research projects across influenza, tuberculosis and other respiratory infections.

Strategic Research Centre for Cystic Fibrosis EpiNet

The Centre aims to extend the use of Registry data by linking it with other health records. CF-EpiNet is comprised of a team of academics and clinicians working across different hospitals and universities.

Strategic Research Centre for Pseudomonas in Cystic Fibrosis

Strategic Research Centres bring together scientists from across the UK and beyond to work on research to benefit people with cystic fibrosis. At NHLI the work is led by Prof Jane Davies seeking to address the major challenges posed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Frankland-Kay Centre for Allergy

Our goal is to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by allergies. We unite adult and paediatric allergy teams and combine their expertise with advanced experimental research, data science, and bioengineering from 51�Թ��.
