If a project does not meet the Frascati definition of research and cannot demonstrate project scope, Restrictions or Performance Related Conditions (see the Classification of Research guidance document [pdf]), the work may be alternatively classified as unrestricted funding or consultancy.
Such projects cannot be classified as research in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s financial returns to HESA. PIs should contact their Department support team to discuss the most appropriate classification for non-research income and agree the next steps for managing these funds.
