Michael Cole

Michael Cole (he/they) is a Principal Teaching Fellow in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø where he leads and supports curriculum and faculty EDI development. He has extensive experience in healthcare education, as an external examiner, and in collaborative design of strategy, policy and practice for supporting equity in teaching and learning. Now in his third decade as a neurodivergent 'pracademic', his work in creative assessment design, anti-racist pedagogy, and cultural and structural humility has been recognised with Principal Teaching Fellowship (2016) and National Teaching Fellowship (2020).

Michael has long advocated for racial equity and health justice and set up the first ever EDI group at The Society of Sports Therapists, where he was formerly Board Director and Chair (2020-2024). Since 2024 he has been a Board Trustee at the National Development Team for Inclusion, and Chair of the Cultural and Structural Humility in Europe Working group (CaSHEW).

As a clinician, Michael led an MSK therapy clinic for over 25 years and worked within interdisciplinary sports medical teams at every level of sport and exercise, including nationally and internationally with Team GB.
