Silwood grounds are covered with patches of deciduous and wet woodlands, some with features of ancient woods, as well as a stream, a lake, grasslands and cultivated land. This mixture of natural and human-made habitats is available for teaching, field trials, and experiments, in a convenient location close to laboratories, climate-controlled rooms and other facilities.
From Life Sciences to Civil Engineering, Aeronautics and Robotics, our grounds are the arena for training courses and fascinating undergraduate, Masters and PhD research projects that take advantage of the long-term field experiments, large collection of data, and diverse ecosystems and resources that the campus offers.
