About the invited speaker:
Dr James Cookson is a Technology Manager at the Johnson Matthey (JM) Technology Centre, leading their Core Capabilities Programme. He leads multiple research groups across two sites enabling JM’s businesses to deliver their pipeline of current and future products and processes. These groups include multiscale modelling, materials synthesis, formulation and coating, manufacturing and engineering science, electrochemical transformations, and statistical design.
Prior to this, James ran JM’s research team in battery materials. He was instrumental in the development of technology and intellectual property (including acquisition and divestment) within the business, ensuring a pipeline of products was developed by internal and external collaborations.
He has also expertise in the areas of nanotechnology, catalysis for the fine chemicals and pharmaceutical sector and has worked in scientific policy and administration. James has a DPhil in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Oxford.
