Publishing with the Nature Portfolio
Today’s journal landscape can be overwhelming when seeking for a suitable place to publish your scientific research in. Here, I provide a journal overview of the Nature Portfolio and with practical guidance for navigating the scientific publishing process. I will introduce the structure and editorial scope of various journals, highlighting how each title differs in selectivity, impact, and community focus. Focusing on Nature Microbiology, I will provide a brief introduction of the editorial team, our submission volume, and decision‑making principles. Next, I will walk authors through the publication workflow—from choosing the right journal and crafting an effective cover letter to understanding editorial assessment, peer review, common reasons for rejection, and best practices for revisions. The session aims to demystify the editorial process and empower researchers to communicate their findings more effectively.
